Trade Show Lead Capture Without Wi-Fi or Cloud

Updated August 2026

What trade show lead capture includes

  • Business card scanning: on-device OCR extracts name, company, email and phone in a few seconds.
  • QR badge scanning: read vCard QR codes and LinkedIn profiles without typing.
  • Lead qualification: mark hot, warm or cold while the conversation is still fresh.
  • Notes: typed notes and voice notes with on-device transcription (Apple Speech).
  • Pipeline: track each prospect from first contact to won or lost.
  • Follow-up: temperature-based sequences and a daily queue after the event.
  • CRM export: Excel (.xlsx) on Free; Salesforce, HubSpot, Odoo, Pipedrive, vCard and ICS on Pro.
  • Offline: OCR, storage and qualification work with no venue Wi-Fi.

Why offline capture matters at exhibitions

Hall Wi-Fi is often slow, saturated or blocked. Cloud-only scanners stall when upload fails. With PikScan, contacts, card photos and notes stay in a local SQLite database on the iPhone until you choose to export. That keeps the booth workflow moving and avoids sending every lead to a vendor server by default.

How a capture session works

  1. Open the event and start a scan (camera, document scanner or gallery).
  2. Confirm OCR fields, add category, temperature and pipeline stage.
  3. Attach a voice note or typed note if needed.
  4. Save. The lead is available offline for the rest of the show.
  5. After the show, start follow-ups, then export when you are ready.

Free vs Pro (capture limits)

  • Free: 1 event, 25 contacts, 25 prep exhibitors, Excel export, limited hot follow-ups.
  • Pro: unlimited events and contacts, full CRM exports, unlimited follow-ups, day-14 report (7-day trial).
